When was the last time you tried to get into college?
It used to be just good grades, a couple of teacher recs, a kick-ass personal essay and, when all else fails, a donated building.  Nick Ellis, a senior at Hanover High, New Hampshire, decides that burglary might do the trick.  The question is, burgle what?  Nick learns that the rumored manuscripts of a local Pulitzer Prize winning author will be burned upon the famous recluse’s death.  His plan: rescue A.J. Derling’s work, impress the Dartmouth College admissions committee enough to take him off the wait list, and ultimately, let him stay close to the girl he has been in love with since third grade.  Only one problem, Jillian Baker won’t tell him where she’s going to college.
Set in the psychologically sensitive time frame between receiving a college acceptance and returning your confirmation letter, Bananafish Sandwich deals with the biggest decision in an eighteen year old’s life.
In between bouts of busted boats, burning buildings and generally botched-up behavior, Nick learns something about navigating the crazy place called eighteen. And that it’s not who you are or what you do so much as how you do it.
