Kevin O’Malley
Kevin has written numerous short film scripts, five feature length screenplays and one novel, The Difference in the Game (on Amazon Kindle). His short script, The 254 Year Old Boy, was a finalist selection in the 2011 IFFF. His feature length script, Bananafish Sandwich, won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2011 New Hampshire Film Festival. He is presently pitching his 26 episode television series entitled, Youth Age, a coming of age film set in a New England prep school circa 1968. The pilot episode was a “second rounder” at the 2019 Austin Film Festival.
You may visit his author's page on Amazon here:
Kevin taught film production and still photography at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles since 1979. He also taught film and photography classes at the Maine Photographic Workshops in Rockport, Maine (now Maine Media). He taught the history of photography at the University of Southern California, Otis Art Institute, and Chaffey College. He is (slowly) transferring his numerous lectures to video which you are most welcome to watch on his YouTube channel here:
His two hour series on Susan Sontag will be on-line in 2023. He produced and edited the series, Speaking of Movies. These are filmed interviews that Jason Reitman (director of Juno and Thank You for Smoking) conducted with an eclectic parade of people in the movie business. Also coming in 2023, a seven part series entitled, Film Composition.
Kevin moved to Maine from Pacific Palisades, California in June 2018. He appreciates the absence of earthquakes, the isolation of Route 1 in Camden as the only designated sig alert for miles around, 4th of July bonfires and not the entire east side of Mount Battie going up in flames and lobsters made red from boiling and not from some Fukishima by-product. Now living on the mid-coast, he is convinced that shaky-coast has nothing even remotely resembling the multi-media ecology of Vacationland.
